Here are our scores from the Los Angeles International Wine Competition! This competition has showcased many of the finest domestic and international vintages through a blind-tasting event that is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious in the United States. An esteemed panel of judges has worked to maintain some of the highest standards of integrity and professionalism that has remained the competition’s foundation for 77 years.We chose a few of our most special wines to be scored, and here are the results!
Le Vigne di Domenico 2013 Tannat: Gold medal, 92 points
Tasting notes: A bright ruby-hue introduces aromas of cranberry and cinnamon with flavors of bergamot, black plum, hints of root beer and white pepper. This wine lives up to its namesake with generous ripe tannins and a robust mouthfeel.
Le Vigne 2013 Nikiara Bordeaux Blend: Gold medal, 90 points
Tasting notes: A nose of baked cherry, date and cola precede an intriguing palate of cocoa powder, black rapsberry and tobacco. Elongated tannins carry notes of cigar box and malabar peppercorn for a lingering and seductive finish.
Le Vigne di Domenico 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon: Silver medal
Tasting notes: Beginning with a distinct earthy profile of cedar and soil, cherry and rubbed sage emerge over a sustained graphite note. A luxurious mouthfeel punctuated by cheeky tannins leads into a mouthwatering lingonberry finish.
Le Vigne 2013 Coure della Vigna Super Tuscan Blend: Silver medal
Tasting notes: Leading with Sangiovese character, a rustic nose with flavors of cigar box, red raspberry, clove and ginger are complemented by the robust structure of Cabernet with creamy texture, lingering tannins and olive finish.
Kiara Bella Red Wine: Silver medal
Tasting notes: An attractive bouquet of cocoa powder and suede leads to a ripe expression of huckleberries, blueberries and Creme de Cassis. Subtle cardamom spice and dusty tannins compose a sophisticated oak structure.
Kiara Bella White Wine: Bronze medal
Tasting notes: This amicable blend greets your senses with aromas of pineapple and white peach. Notes of rosy Cara Cara orange and Pink Lady apple bring charm to a palate underlain by flirtatious wisps of apricot and ginger.
